EWBI-Canada gets involved in community engagement in BC

June 15, Surrey, BC- The Emotional Well Being Institute of Canada gets involved in community engagement, as its co-founder and Director Dr. Drona Rasali gave a talk over a community Learning Event on Mental and Emotional Well-being, jointly organized earlier today by Nepal Cultural Society of BC and Hindu-Buddhist Foundation of Canada at the Temple premises of the latter in Surrey. The topic of his hour-long talk was Emotional Well Being Concept and its Holistic Approach, defining the term, emotional well-being; highlighting some major examples of emotional well-being setbacks; covering risk, protective and mediating factors of emotional well-being; psycho-social and neuronal and hormonal mechanism of emotional well-being setbacks and holistic approach to emotional well-being. Nepali community members who attended the session also were also given introductory information about Emotional Well Being Institute and EWBI-Canada’s upcoming inauguration ceremony in Burnaby, BC on 7th July.

Dr. Rasali included a video clip in which Prof. Basseer Jeeawody explains the harms caused by two phenomena- Hikikomori and Iatrogenesis leading to emotional well-being setbacks in the communities and societies.

Another community member Mrs. Bharati Shrestha, who has been a practitioner of Art of Living meditation for more than two decades, introduced the Art of Living as founded by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, and also ran a short practice session of Sudarshan Kriya, a simple powerful meditational technique of breathing with the community members in attendance.  The session was initiated and moderated by Mr. Suresh Bhatta and concluded with thanks giving by Mr. Parashar Malla. NSCBC BoD was represented by Kumar KC and Pradeep Paudel, and HBFC was represented by Madhu Acharya along with other community members.
